| Steps
to using the AbsoGrip
and eliminating the bones!

Most of us through
the years have tried many ways of filleting or cleaning fish
we’ve tried all kinds of gizmos and
gadgets for cleaning holding scaling our fish. In the past
little while we have been working on developing a system using
our AbsoGrip and making the most effective tool that we could
in the fight against bones in our fillets! IF you hate bones
in your filet then try this cleaning technique you won’t
be disappointed.
1. Slide lanyard over your wrist so that the AbsoGrip hangs snug but comfortable.
2. Make and incision in the fish behind the gills as you would normally do now insert the blade of the AbsoGrip and grab the head of the fish at the same time. The lanyard should be tight enough to help hold the fish in place no matter how slimy or slippery the fish is.
3. As you have cut down to the spine of the fish turn your fillet knife blade towards the tail and proceed to cut through to the tail cutting through the rib bones and all. You will need a good quality knife for this stage so keep us in mind when buying one we sell high quality hand made custom knives made from the finest 440 stainless. www.bigcatchoutdoors.com .(ok back to cleaning)
4. Once you have cut through and the fillet is separated from the rest of the fish turn it over and follow the same process (step 3)
5. Now you have 2 fillets using the AbsoGrip pin your fillet by the tip of the tail down to your cutting board and slide your knife starting at the AbsoGrip blade and continue through till you have taken the skin off of the meat.
6. Using your fingers feel for the rib bones following them with your knife will eliminate every bone from you filet. You may think that using this method may waste fish but ill ask you this how much meat is on a rib bone of a fish? Now ill answer… not too much. Unless you are cleaning a large bass or walleye and larger there really is not much there but bones anyway and bones are what you are trying to eliminate. Good luck fishing hope you enjoy your AbsoGrip. |
